NASA announces that an approximately 15 by 15 feet (4.6 m × 4.6 m) section of the Space Shuttle Challenger has been found by divers in the Atlantic Ocean. It is the first debris from the shuttle to be found since 1996. (AP)

Unidentified warplanes launch airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias on the Iraq–Syria border, including near the Al-Qa’im border crossing, reportedly killing at least 25 people. Fuel tankers carrying Iranian gasoline to Lebanon are also hit. DRC Air Force Sukhoi Su-25 jets bomb areas held by M23 rebels in North Kivu, including the recently captured town of Bunagana. At least one of the jets violated Rwandan airspace, although Kinshasa says that the incident was a mistake and was not intentional. (France 24)
