Twenty Southern Transitional Council separatist fighters are killed by al-Qaeda gunmen in Abyan Governorate. All of the six attackers are also killed in the gunfight. (Al Jazeera) 

Ten people are killed in South Korea due to Typhoon Hinnamnor. Seven of the victims died in a flooded underground car park. In addition, 2,900 people are evacuated and 66,000 homes are damaged. (BBC) 

At least 23 people are killed and 11 others are injured during a fire at a karaoke bar in Binh DuongVietnam(BBC) 

Thousands evacuate in N’Djamena, Chad, due to extensive flooding caused by the country’s heaviest rains in 30 years. An estimated 442,000 Chadians have been impacted by the floods since the end of August. (Reuters) 

Couy Griffin, a commissioner of Otero County, New Mexico, United States, is barred from public office by a state judge due to his involvement in the January 6 attack, which was determined to be an insurrection. This is the first time that the Fourteenth Amendment has been used in more than a century to ban a person who participated in an insurrection from serving in the government.  (CNN)
